Newcastle - a great city - wander down to the transformed waterfront,
the Quayside, now lined with stylish hotels, designer bars, restaurants
and public art. The Gateshead Millennium Bridge, a work of art in
itself, arches across the Tyne to link the City to Gateshead Quays
and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
Another trendy city to visit, enjoy, hold your ceremony and much

Gay Scene
|
|
|
Newcastle is probably one of the most forgotten gay scenes in the
UK. To far North for most of the country to bother. This is a real
shame because the people of Newcasle are very friendly.
The cost of a night out is lower than in the south, although beer
is more expensive than, say, Manchester. Gay bars are neither as
numerous nor as lively as in Edinburgh, Manchester or London, and
yet things are at least better than in places like Carlisle, which
have no organised 'scene' to speak of. There are hundreds - if not
thousands - of people on the Newcastle gay scene, but it has a slightly
parochial atmosphere, and you'll often bump into the same people.
The bars are all in the same area at the west of the city centre.
You'll notice a lot of gay people around the streets here at night,
and it could be called a "gay village" - although not
on the scale of Manchester's Canal Street or Soho's Old Compton
Street.
